However, if you want to take a break from digital streaming platforms, it’s time you watched some interesting short films on YouTube. You can catch up on these shorts while cooking, cleaning, or doing other household chores. However, remember to not miss the plot twist.

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, this short is a spin on the popular folklore about the mythological character of Ahalya who was believed to be seduced by Indra and chastised by her husband Gautama Maharishi. In the modern short film version, a young police officer, Indra, visits the home of a famous ageing artist Goutam to investigate the disappearance of a model named Arjun. During their discussion, Goutam’s wife greets the men and introduces herself as Ahalya. What seems like a normal conversation soon takes a sinister turn when Indra feels infatuated with Ahalya.

2. Chutney

A young woman flirts with a married man at a party while his wife notices them from a distance. She invites the young woman home the next day, and serves delicious snacks and a spicy story that starts on a light note but ends on an unexpected, dark one. We would recommend watching the short closely so that you don’t miss the subtle hints and impeccable acting by the cast.

3. Neighbours

A married couple spends most of their time in silence and goes about their regular duties without engaging in conversation. However, their next-door neighbours (another couple) live a diametrically opposite life. They fight, talk, and have sex loudly, which can be heard by everyone living in their vicinity. However, the climax isn’t what anyone (including the eavesdroppers) would have anticipated.

4. Nayantara’s Necklace

Two women, Alka (Tillotama Shome) and Nayantara (Konkona Sen Sharma) build a friendship that changes their lives forever. While Nayantara lives an affluent life, Alka is a middle-class housewife who leads a simple life. However, under Nayantara’s influence, Alka enters the world of social media, glitz, and glamour only to realise that not everyone’s as happy as they are pretending to be. It’s a thrilling, thought-provoking short that will make you appreciate the simpler things in life.
