Neena Gupta & Jitendra Kumar Live The Rural Life In Prime Video’s Panchayat - admin - 04-24-2020

Prime Video just dropped the trailer of their upcoming web-series Panchayat, and it could just be the show we all need for our next (or ongoing) binge-watching sessions. Produced by The Viral Fever (TVF), the show stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Biswapati Sarkar in lead roles. As per the trailer, Kumar’s character Abhishek Tripathi is posted in a small village called Phulera. He despises his job because he wants to make it big in the city. When he shares his struggles with his friend, he’s advised to prepare for CAT (Common Admission Test for MBA aspirants) to escape his frustrating situation.

When he arrives at Phulera, he’s welcomed by a couple (Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav) who aren’t too impressed with him, but behave cordially. During his stay, Tripathi realises that, like most villages in India, Phulera suffers from inconsistent electricity supply. It seems, along with the villagers, Tripathi will try to come up with a solution that will solve the village’s power-supply problem. We have to watch the series to know if Tripathi has a change of heart after his stint at the village. The show will release on April 3rd.

This is Kumar’s second collaboration with Neena Gupta after Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. In the movie, Kumar plays the role of a young man who’s struggling to make his parents (Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta) accept his sexuality.

According to India Today, speaking about working with Gupta for the second time, Kumar said, “Panchayat is the unique and charming story of a young man struggling to adjust to his new life in a remote village. I could not have been more excited to work on Panchayat and particularly the opportunity to work with the brilliant Neena Guptaji once again.” Gupta, on the other hand, said, “Playing the role of Manju Devi, a quirky matriarchal homemaker and official village Pradhan was a huge amount of fun, especially alongside such a talented cast and crew. Panchayat is a light-hearted, funny series with plenty of heart. I know Prime members are going to fall in love with its unique characters and authentic rural flavour.”

Kumar first shot to fame when he played the role of Jitendra Maheshwari aka Jeetu bhaiyya in the web-series TVF Pitchers. Since then, he has cemented his place in the world of OTT platforms with various shows like TVF Bachelors, Kota Factory, and Cheesecake.
